Update From Administrator – August 31, 2020
August 31, 2020
As always, our team and I hope this email finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy.
I am pleased to report that we continue to remain COVID-free for residents, with one staff member testing positive.
As you know more than anyone, it’s been a difficult few months as our center has battled with COVID-19. While the number of individuals stricken with the virus has decreased dramatically, we know that it is possible we will be dealing with another surge of positive cases in our community.
Our entire team has been at work planning for this possibility, and we’d like your input as we continue to refine our strategy to keep all of our residents and staff safe. To that end, we have developed this brief survey that we are asking family members and residents to complete. It will only take you a few minutes and will help us learn what your priorities and main concerns may be. Please click on this link to take a brief survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/ZXF356S which will remain open until August 31.
Your participation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your consideration and stay safe.
Unfortunately, we still have no idea when visitors will be allowed back in the building. I urge everyone to take full advantage of our popular outside visits or the Facetime/Zoom calls. The residents look forward to these visits, as I am sure you do as well.
A few quick points on our outdoor visits:
- Must be pre-scheduled to ensure safe and healthy visits for you, the residents, and our staff. It also allows our team to ensure your loved one is available and ready for your visit to make the most of your time together.
- Face coverings must always be worn and a social distance of 6 feet between you and your loved ones for the entirety of the visit.
- Check out our website for specific guidelines and details regarding perimeter visits.
- Alternative visits (Facetime, Skype, and window visits) are still taking place. You can schedule a visit by calling 860-583-1827 or emailing us at recreation@sheridenwoodshcc.com.
On Thursday August 27 Governor Ned Lamont provided updated information on general visitations, as well as compassionate care visits including end stage of life and significant change in condition for nursing home residents . This will be discussed in more detail during our Town Hall meeting.
Other updates from our recreation team include:
- Wednesday September 2: entertainment by Shawn Taylor (outside) with Picnic food. Cookout/Eat in
- Sunday September 13th: Celebration of Grandparent’s Day: ZOOM with ME from 2:30pm-4:00pm.
Encouraging grandchildren and great grandchildren to sing up to zoom with residents on this special day 😊
- We have fresh airtime where residents can get some much-needed sunshine while supervised to ensure social distancing.
As a reminder, our next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for Tuesday September 1, 2020 at 5:00pm and we will discuss more detailed information during this time. We encourage any residents and family members to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have about the care we are offering. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise.
Thank you and please stay safe and healthy!
