Update from Administrator – July 27, 2020
July 27, 2020
Hope that everyone is doing well.
On the days that we are having tropical weather we are switching to window visits in place of outside visits. We are trying to accommodate all of our resident visits with family members, please remember that the outdoor visits must be pre-scheduled to ensure safe and healthy visits for you, the residents, and our staff. It also allows our team to ensure your loved one is available and ready for your visit to make the most of your time together. These visits require appropriate PPE (masks) to be worn at all times and a social distance of 6 feet between you and your loved ones for the entirety of the visit. The specific guidelines and details regarding perimeter visits can be found on our website and Facebook page. If these restrictions pose issues for you please keep in mind that we continue to offer other visitation alternatives like Facetime, Skype and window visits. You can schedule a visit by calling recreation at 860.583.1827 or emailing us at Info@sheridenwoodshcc.com.
As mentioned on our last Town Hall call, we conducted another round of resident testing this past Thursday. We had 1 resident whose results were positive on July 16. We re-tested this resident to identify if this was possible a false positive. We will conduct another round this week, to include any new admissions during the last week. Some of our families have inquired about increasing time outdoors so we are actively trying to get people out of their rooms while maintaining the appropriate safety measures. Recreation has started having 4 programs per day in small groups with social distancing. We will hopefully be able to reduce restrictions under the guidance of the CDC and CT Department of Public Health.
As you, Governor Lamont ordered nursing home workers to be regularly tested for the coronavirus disease. We were able to execute an agreement with our Care Partner to have testing done and the first round was completed last week. All employee results received so far have been negative and latest round started on Sunday July 26. Through ongoing testing we are hopeful to keep all our residents and employees safe while at Sheriden Woods.
Our last visit on from CT DPH and member of the National Guard was on Wednesday July 15. We continue to follow all CDC and state guidelines and receive regular updates on new guidelines that are offered.
As a reminder, our next “Town Hall” meeting is scheduled for Tuesday July 28 (call number: 646-558-8656; Guest Code: 305753*) at 5:00pm and we will discuss more detailed information during this time. We encourage any residents and family members to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have about the care we are offering. Our commitment is to be as transparent as possible and work to address any issues that arise.
Thank you and please stay safe and healthy.
